External Wall Insulation - FAQ
How does it work?
Transfer of heat happens through three different mechanisms:
- convection
- conduction
- radiation
Excess of heat goes to colder areas. To decrease efficiency of this transfer, external wall insulation restricts movement of the air, shutting corridors around the walls and blocking it inside. In such environment, we can control movement of air through ventilation system, which will prevent fungus and optimize house environment.
How long it takes to install external wall insulation?
EWI installation should not take more than 7 working days on 100 m² property for experienced crew. Of course, each property is different, and works are done outdoor we are dependent on the weather conditions.
What is the cost of external wall insulation?
There’s no single answer to this question, as every household is different. In general, you can estimate costs roughly around 150 EUR per square meter (material included).

External Wall Insulation Dublin – how it is made?
External wall insulation is typically made by attaching insulation materials to the outside of a building’s walls. The type of insulation material used depends on the specific needs of the building and the local climate. Some common types of insulation materials include:
Polystyrene: Polystyrene is a synthetic plastic polymer that is commonly used in external wall insulation. It is a lightweight, low-cost material that is easy to install and provides good insulation.
Polyurethane: Polyurethane is a synthetic foam insulation material that is known for its high insulating power and durability. It is often used in external wall insulation systems because it can be molded to fit around corners and other irregular shapes.
Mineral wool: Mineral wool is a type of insulation made from natural minerals such as basalt or diabase. It is a sustainable and environmentally friendly option that is resistant to fire, moisture, and pests.
Cork: Cork is a natural insulation material made from the bark of cork oak trees. It is a sustainable and environmentally friendly option that is resistant to fire, moisture, and pests.
External wall insulation systems typically consist of a layer of insulation material attached to the outside of the wall, followed by a protective layer such as plasterboard or brick slips. The insulation is typically installed by professionals, who will carefully measure and cut the insulation to fit around windows, doors, and other fixtures. Once the insulation is installed, the protective layer is added to protect the insulation from the elements and give the building a finished appearance.
